IVF Treatment in Gurgaon - Lamidas

In vitro fertilization, or IVF, is a technique that aims to help couples experiencing fertility issues. The recent innovations in the field could provide doctors with the ability to select the highest-quality embryo, potentially increasing a woman's chance of becoming pregnant and giving birth to a healthy baby.
What is IVF treatment?
IVF is a very common treatment and includes a series of procedures wherein the egg and sperms are placed in a dish of nutrient fluid and allowed to fertilize and develop for up to six days. The resulting embryo is then transferred into the woman’s uterus. At La Midas, we use the latest scientific techniques to increase the possibility of getting a successful pregnancy.
Who is IVF best suited for?
IVF is used to treat a range of fertility issues including:
  • Female factors: Many women suffer from infertility issues such as blocked or absent fallopian tubes, endometriosis, ovulation problems, for example, caused by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or other.
  • Male factors: One of the most reasons for having an IVF treatment is the low sperm count of men or low sperm motility.
  • Genetic issues: For couples with a history of genetic abnormalities or genetically based serious disorders, IVF helps to determine the genetic makeup of the embryos before transfer to the uterus.
How is IVF done?
Here we have explained the IVF in a simple step by step manner:
  • Initial tests and deciding the treatment plan: Your personalized fertility journey starts with a few tests to understand the causes of infertility.
  • Egg collection (with or without hormonal stimulation) or ICSI: Every woman produces one egg per cycle and in order to be successful at falling pregnant through IVF, a higher number of eggs are required to increase the chance of higher success rates. Therefore in some cases, doctors suggest ‘ovulation-inducing injections’ to stimulate the production of the egg(s). More than one and up to 12 eggs can be retrieved using this process.
The mature eggs are collected using a simple procedure performed under anesthetic.
  • Embryo development and Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): In a typical process, an egg (or a number of eggs) is retrieved, the sperm sample is prepared and the two are placed together in a ‘petri dish’ by a trained embryologist and placed with each egg in culture dishes in the incubator.
In cases where the sperm mortality rate is high, single sperm is manually injected directly into the egg thus increasing the chances of fertilization. The technique is known as the ‘ICSI technique’.
  • Preimplantation genetic diagnosis and screening (PGD/PGS): If you or your partner have a family history of genetic illnesses, or if either of you are past a certain age, your doctor may recommend genetic testing to rule out a particular disorder.
PGD allows us to avoid embryos that contain an identifiable genetic abnormality and PGS makes sure the embryo contains the right number of chromosomes (46).
  • Embryo transfer:Once fertilization takes place, the best quality embryo is transferred to the uterus. Additional treatments such as injections are taken to optimize the chances of the IVF cycle being successful.
  • Frozen embryo transfer:In this technique, if a couple has a high yield of healthy successfully fertilized embryos as a result of a high number of eggs, they may choose to save some of the resulting embryos for a later IVF attempt. Embryos thus can be frozen and stored for future use.
If pregnancy does not occur in the original fresh IVF or ICSI cycle, the frozen embryos may be transferred in a later cycle. The couple may choose to implant more than one embryo at a time to increase the chance of survival and success of pregnancy. The success rate from frozen embryo transfers is on par with fresh embryo transfers. It means you’ll be using embryos created while you are younger, beneficial for your chances of success.
What is the cost involved for IVF?
The IVF treatment cost depends upon many factors including your medical history, test results, age, the requirement of any additional assisted reproductive technologies, etc. The prices also depend on the different types of medicines used in treatments. Depending upon their age, and health status, each patient may require different drugs and dosages thereof throughout the treatment which will have a direct effect on cost.
