Blepharoplasty or double eyelid surgery

Blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery that corrects functional and cosmetic issues in the upper and/or lower eyelids. Primary aim of surgery is to remove the excess overhanging wrinkled skin from the upper eyelid and puffiness of the lower eyelid skin. By removing excess skin, blepharoplasty procedure gives the eyes a fresh, brighter , youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
Cosmetic issues such as dark under-eye circles are often hereditary. If the bulging of fat is causing dark circles, then lower eyelid surgery is the only effective solution to this problem. If you are looking for Blepharoplasty in Gurgaon, La Midas is here for you.
Do I need eyelid surgery?
Blepharoplasty is suitable option for you if you are suffering from following:
  • Droopy eyelids due to excessive upper eyelid skin
  • Puffy or under-eye bags
  • someone who does not like the way their eyelids looks may be a candidate for blepharoplasty .
  • Aging effects such as hooding of the upper eyelid.
Individuals that are in good general health and have realistic expectations make good candidates for this procedure.
Blepharoplasty procedure
There are several different surgical techniques; your plastic surgeon will select the technique that will give the best results for you.
Both upper and lower lids can be treated with blepharoplasty and surgery is done under local or general anaesthesia. The choice of anaesthesia is discussed with the patient at the time of consultation.
During upper blepharoplasty, an incision will be given in the natural eyelid crease so the doctor can access the tissues below the skin’s surface. With the help of precise instruments, your surgeon will remove extra skin and fat , tighten remaining tissues, and suture the surgical incisions.
Since this incision follows the natural contour of the upper eyelid, it is usually undetectable.
During lower blepharoplasty, incision is taken under the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelid. The doctor will then trim, or remove the fat pads that cause puffiness and modify the area. The lower blepharoplasty requires special caution as it is performed in the sensitive part of the eye.
In order to correct issues related to upper and lower eyelid, both upper and lower blepharoplasty can be performed in unison during a single procedure.
Risks and benefits
Compared to any other cosmetic surgery, blepharoplasty is a relatively precise and fine cosmetic surgery procedure but with a shorter recovery time. Major benefit of blepharoplasty is removal of excess and bulgy fat and making your eyes appear less tired and more youthful. The result is a natural appearance, more vibrant and rested.
Complications include infection, bleeding, temporary blurred vision, scarring, difficulty in closing eye etc.
An eyelid surgery is a very intricate procedure. Therefore, it’s very important to select a highly skilled plastic surgeon to avoid any unnecessary complications.
Blepharoplasty Recovery
Recovery time after eyelid surgery varies from patient to patient, but most are able to return to work within a week. For the first few days following surgery, expect to treat the incisions with a special lubricating ointment as well as cold compresses to help accelerate the healing process. Temporary side effects include pain, swelling, itching, burning sensation, excessive tearing; that will subside within a few days. The stitches will be removed 3-5 days after surgery. Your eyes may be sensitive to sunlight and wind for a few weeks, so wear sunglasses to minimize discomfort.
